Invest - OVT of 237,529 plus high cost per click. I don't care what you think about .mobi, this is name is a big deal.

If someone walks away with Invest.mobi for $10,000 they scored a serious bargain. Reasonable to expect 3-5X that amount.

Invest.mobi was worth zero three months ago and it it worth zero today? What would anyone use the name for? It doesn't make any sense. He asked for thoughts on the name and my thought is that I wouldn't register the name for $8. That is why it was available when he registered it.

It is easy to see that you guys are trying to re-create a once-in-a-lifetime-event (the DOTCOM revolution) with another one. The odds are close to zero that these names ever amount to anything practical...very close to zero.

99 percent of these names are just horrible names.....adultmovie.mobi didn't even get a bid of $1,000 the other day. Lots of games being played with fake bids, fake Escrow payments, fake interest by way of PM, etc, etc.

At the end of the day the extention is worth less than toilet paper but you won't realize that for a while.

For now, you will have to trade amongst yourselves.

Wake up, please!

When you typed these words, another company went mobile!

http://www.universalchannel.mobi/

More and more mobi sites are building up, more and more companies go mobile.

Rick Schwartz had said like this When you watched the ads on TV of a domain extension, it will go.

You could find businessweek.mobi on TV.

Please tell us what the initial offer was from the "buyer". Did he contact you directly first, or did he just bid a nice even number of 10K at Sedo. You know, they take 10 percent so you just gave away $1,000 on this name.

Did the buyer not contact you first? How did the negotiations go? Will you apologize in two weeks when I resurect the thread and ask you how the "sale" went.

You seem to have zero concern about whether this sale will go through. You only have four days to come up with "another" bid. You can always ask another cheerleader to buy the name to prove me wrong. Maybe you can all chip in and then make me look like a fool.

Nobody with a pulse would pay 10K for this name. I think you know that.

Iggy, didn't you find the recent sales of mobi names?

Here are some,
SportsBook.mobi $129,800
Gamble.mobi $33,000
BetOnline $13,500
Silverback.mobi $10,509
VideoPoker.mobi $6,500
EuroLottery.mobi $5,000
Dokter.mobi $4,000

Do you think those people who pay for these names are 'fool'?

When you find out who the owner of Sportsbook.mobi is then please let me know. Gamble.mobi is a useless name as well. VideoPoker.mobi make a bit of sense, as do the bottom two.

If they are fools then they might just find greater fools (except for sportsbook.mobi and gamble.mobi....these two "sales" stink)

I don't expect you to like my names, and you will never see me touting them, either. When you have the goods, you accumulate more goods.

It goes against common sense to be sitting on a speculative investment and then constantly pound the table before it even takes off. Most of you wouldn't understand what I am saying, but if you truly had a worthwhile piece of property you woudn't be gasping for air in defense of your crap. You would be buying more crap for cheap prices so you could sell when the extention actually has a use (which will be never).

You will be wrong every step of the way. Most of you probably believe that these high publicity sales are legit...that is because you want to believe it. You are all trying to sell your worst names while holding on to you best. Your best dotmobi names aren't even worth registering.

That's my opinion. If you want to hog up every domain name message board in the world with your garbage names then you should actually be happy that you have less competition....since I will never buy one. You are free to accumulate as many as you want.

If you're trolling for information there is a better way to ask than this. As for the price of domains, just because YOU cannot think of what to do with invest.mobi or gamble.mobi doesnt mean someone else wont be able to turn a simple domain name into the basis of a profitable business.

no way. i say it wont get past 10k.. and even at 10k i have doubts about the bidder paying.

if the bid exceeds 10k and the buyer actually pays i will be SHOCKED.

it is a good word.. but, wow 10k huh..

dont get me wrong, i hope someone DOES buy it for 10k or much more and pay... i hope to be proven wrong, but do not expect it.

When I think of Invest.mobi, I think of companies like Fidelity Investments, Merrill Lynch, Charles Schwab etc.

I guess we will just have to wait and see.

you are saying that keyword names like gamble.mobi, sportsbook.mobi, and invest.mobi are useless but then look at the kind of names that you own and try to sell. Whose names are useless?

Iggy, you are one of a dying breed I am glad to say, the dotcommers.

If you went to a mall 20 years ago how many people would have heard of .com? The same 15 years ago the same with .net? Your question relies on the dismissal of history to get the leap in 'logic' you wish everyone to see.

Many domainers, experienced domainers that is, have now invested in .mobi, but you, you of all great domainers, you are the one who proclaims 'this is a rubbish extension'. With more and more domainers, and by the way end-users as well, buying the .mobi why should we think 'you' know best.

The examples you give of 'bubbles' is historically correct, however you failed to point out that the same arguement or similar was used against the introduction of motor cars, iron ships, home computers, and yes even mobile phones.

Perhaps you and those of a kindred spirit as you should realise that this industry is primarily a pioneering industry and not a settler indusry. Those at the forefront are those that identify a use or service that others either want or will want in the near future. Your philosophy is based on equilibrium within the market, look at the history of the past 20 years and show me where this equilibrium is if you would please.

(By the way I was not a fan of .mobi, and I definately was not swayed by flowers.mobi, what swayed me was a friend explaining just how long it took the average mobile phone text sender to type in .mobi into their cellphone. I then saw the light, and like other ccTLD's I reg I instantly identified possible markets, I became a convert.)

We will have to disagree. I am just stunned that the majority of new people in the domain business go out of there way to get as far away from dotcom as possible. There are so many good names to pick up for hundreds of dollars, let alone thousands.

99 percent of the names in these alternate extentions are crap, but that is where people congregate because they are trying to get in on the ground floor like the original dotcom crown.

It just aint gonna happen.

I would be happy to buy invest.com but I sure won't get it for $10, 000. The .mobi space is a ground floor opportunity, plain and simple. It's new and IMO will become increasingly relevant as mobile internet devices move from business users to consumers. If you didn't see the opportunity and missed the boat, that's your problem. But to degrade an awesome domain like invest.mobi as a result is ridiculous. If you can't see people using their mobile devices to manage their investments then you simply don't understand that people are trying to do that already and millions more will want to do th same in the near future. 99 % of .com registrations are crap too. Should I ignore .com for this reason also? The domain K9casino is crap, no matter what the tld. Knowing that is where you put your money instead of jumping into the .mobi landrush tells me you simply don't get it. I'll take invest.mobi over K9casino.com any day.

Iggy, you are one of a dying breed I am glad to say, the dotcommers.

That certainly seems to be the case more and more on this forum.

When the dotcom boom originally occured, a lot of young people with no particular business talent were sayint that to traditional businesses. They said the 50 year old business exec was a dinosaur. The new young breed would be taking over. These guys, fresh out of college, never made a penny of profit. Didn't know how to do anything but spend investor money, making a worthless company look like an industry giant. AOL bought Time Warner. Remember that? AOL bought frigging Time Warner! Foolishness. Just complete Madness.
