NavySeals91 seems to have hijacked the thread from a debate, to a moralists blindfolded opionated rant - so, we have our own opinions, and experiences.

Let's not forget, Ashaw started this one re: ciggies - f'all to do with idiots o'ding on crack! Jeezzz

Let's say it's true that terrorism is to some degree funded by illegal drug trade.

Wouldn't legalizing be the solution to remove this money source from terrorist organizations?

It certainly would. There would be no profit in it.

Professional, no. Marginally acceptable, yes.

I have no problem with the views of NS and respect them, although I do not agree completely.

I still want someone to explain how the War on Drugs is helping fight terrorism. And moreover how the War on Drugs positives outweigh the negatives.

Smokers suck! Literally.

Cigarettes are brain candy.

I quit 6 years ago becuase I didn't want to kill myself, but... if I ever learn I have a terminal disease... first thing I'd do is get me some smokes!

On topic, I just tried to browse cigarettes.com and get a proxy error. Whoever owns that domain is missing out on a lot of $$$.

Check your facts then come back.

However, I'll buy you 100ccs of heroin and you can tell me after your opinion on drugs.

More common sense than morals. People who push for this stuff are most likely users themselves.

WHO THE HELL CAN ARGUE ON THE BEHALF OF ILLEGAL DRUGS, it's like defending a serial child rapist...saying kids shouldn't be so tempting and blaming the kids and calling pediphelia a disease???!!!

Also, an addiction is not a disease, it is a state of mind that can be broken if you have the strength.

The war on drugs is being fought, yes the positives do not get broadcasted, but the negatives do. Battles are being won by the negatives, but it is not the whole war. I'd rather see tax dollars go towards erradicating suppliers than fixing a few pot holes. Also, they should do a clean sweep of every police precinct and discharge all the drugs being users. Yes there are crooked cops who do that, uncle was a police chief and is now an FBI agent.

Another great example by azooz, Look at Amsterdam for cripes sake.....no place to aspire to I must say.

Why isn't Amsterdam something not to aspire for?

Last time I checked the figures, they had lower drug use than in the US.

I have to step in here and argue this one, NS. I can abuse drugs all I want, even kill myself with said drugs....

this would have absolutely no effect on another human being.

pedophilia and illegal drug use have no logical connection. Unless of course I am railing my coke of the hip of a six-year old girl.

Now, if I am selling illegal drugs to children, bad.
If Im fondling and having sex with children, bad.

But, if I chose to chase the dragon it affects noone but myself. And if I were you I might appreciate it if someone like me od'ed. I'll call it "enemy friendly fire" in the War on Drugs. Imagine The Onion running with this.

Immature. Highly immature but defently expected from someone who defends scum. (DRUG DEALERS not molesters if you need it to be pointed out)

And drugs do affect others...look at gang violence, look at people who drive while high and kill. It will obviously never be legal Infact, kids of 13 are getting into drugs and abusing them...look at my town as for proof. I see I hit an emotional point with the pedophilia thing, they are both bad regardless, any person would agree. I will do a public survey at a supermarket and post the results. I will ask junkies if they would like drugs to be legal.

You call me (and many other forum members) a defender of child molesters and I'm the immature one?

If someone wants drugs, they can find them anyway. Making them legal will only help our justice system. Salient is completely correct - if you are a pedophile you hurt others (specifically little children), if you feeling like OD'ing on cocaine in a back alley you are only harming yourself.

People are going to do drugs whether they are illegal or legal. They are so easy to come by. By legalizing them you take the immense profit out of it. You save billions in court, policing and jailing costs alone. That money offsets the health care costs and frees up a ton off money for the courts and police to go after child-touchers, rapists, murderers and other criminals. I would rather have a pot-head living next door than a child-toucher or rapist thank you very much.

As for cigarettes - let people smoke them and kill themselves. Tax the hell out of them to offset the health care costs which in Canada are paid by tax-dollars. Make those same smokers smoke away from others like most places in Canada and elsewhere to lesson the effects of second-hand smoke.

I would like to know if navyseals drinks alcohol? Usually the most adamant against drug use are themselves on drugs - alcohol. And NS - there would be no drug pushers if it was legal. Or are Anheuser Bush and Marlboro also drug pushers? It's the same thing!

Err no I am not. There would be, people would want to get it cheaper than the rest. Drugs should not be legalized, it is the demise of civilization however most people here may be to doped up to realize this.

I used the molester thing to strike an emotional standpoint with these people. Molesters belong jailed, once a molester always a molester. By legalizing drugs you would be bringing in a higher death toll each year which in turn would bring intelligence of the country down. How about your children shoot up all the time? They would be dumb asses and would never perform past the intellect level of an ameoba.

Im glad you said this, NS. Now if we could get people to buy into this...

"Religion is the opium of the masses." - Karl Marx.

Thus, drugs should not be legalized i.e. religion.

and to use your language, "it is the demise of civilization..."

I think I should start a new thread, If Religion were invented today, do you think it would be legal?

hehe.
