I access the namepros(.)mobi everyday by my phone Nokia6150. Unfortunately, and I am sorry to say I can't access DNForum(.)com in my phone. I surf NP at least 1 hours by phone per day, but access DNF less and less ...

I don't think dotMobi is dead, but it helps people who needs it.

Honestly NO, and I'm a frequent Foxnews viewer.

Not in the first two years but we see thousands now, and their using .com, .net, .org and .gov. I dont think Marketers intentionally promote TLD's, they use whatever TLD best applies to what their marketing.

If .mobi is so great for Wireless devices, then why aren't the wireless companies themselves using them?

Examples;

att.mobi - Redirects to .COM
verizon.mobi - Dead URL
Sprint.mobi - Dead URL

I would say it may be good news for us .mobi owners then if you aren't seeing foxnews.mobi advertised and they keep increasing their uniques it just means more people are actually searching for .mobi!! Now just imagine if they did advertise, since you claim you have never seen it.

Look who's back from the mobi Cave LOL.. So SMS/MMS/Ringtones and everything that kickstarted the mobile web is related to .mobi?

As for your argument re: iPhone/Flash, well, um, I'm not even going to go there.. On the bright side I hope you learned from your mistake and not going to reg a new worthless TLD in the future...

Thanks for the advice.I know you know your onions when it comes to domain names, but i don't think you have a clue when it comes to branding - .Mobi declares mobile-related/formatted content.

While the .mobi fanatics are touting the latest corporate gadgets springing up here and there even the mobile industry continues to ignore the tld :asleep:

flowers.mobi
The believers have the opportunity to put their money where their mouth is, and purchase shares of it at fusu.com :approve:
Looks like Rick wants to dilute his positions.
Smart man.

Well I think you may want to pay better attention to the market as the 'believers' have put their money where their mouth is....Over 500,000 names were regged in less than a year of the existence of .mobi....

Anyone know how many are regged today? I really do not think the problem is having the believers putting their money where their mouth is....as it is clear they have done that.

It's a real shame that the King® owns b-a-b-i-e-s.com while the .mobi is still available

Roughly one million. But the registrations stats alone do not reflect the popularity of a TLD.
.biz has 2M and .eu almost 2.85M...

The real problem... is not .mobi, but
the mobi mafia.
They try to control what people say here, at NamePros and a few other forums.

Care to explain your statement please? And how all would you include in your "mafia" list.

Well, I am neither pro nor anti dotMobi. It's just that I know people from dotMobi registry very well and, quite frankly, accusing them of fixing discussion on forum is not just a slander on them but also on us who are responsible to keep this forum running. Hence, the request for clarification.

you are assuming way too much. common mistake.

I never believed in .mobi from the start, well with the iPhone and all...

the bottom line is that .mobi is a step backwards when it comes to technology. Who wants a downgraded version of a website with all the features removed?

the only reason .mobi was such a "success" was because of all the speculators and hype IMO. The .mobi crew is laughing their way to the bank, hyping up the TLD and auctioning off the best names. The rest of the people are caught in a struggle to get their moneys worth by constantly convincing themselves and others around them that the .mobi TLD will strive and blossom.

So .mobi lovers are pretty much saying that 2 years from now, phones will not improve enough to support complex script heavy websites (which is already done today), AND that the public will be much much more aware of the .mobi TLD.

And another thing, so lets say we are given Foxnews, right? The example you guys keep using... They have their foxnews.com and foxnews.mobi. Just a few more years down the line, when the vast majority of the population will be on iphones, blackberries, and other devices that can perfectly render a complicated .com website... which version of the site will foxnews advertise? The .mobi? or the .com which has all the features and advertising for them to profit on?

Give me a break, .mobi would have been a good idea if the cellphones browser/internet capabilities were not able to evolve.

.com was the past, .com is the present, .com will be the future

The hype has already moved to .asia & .me. History repeats itself :)
