I think the mistake was in Adam asking for $1M with "other offers pending".

That sounds ridiculous, and just inspires WIPO action.

My bet is that a reasonable asking price--perhaps $100k or so--might have resulted in a great ROI and no need for the very able Mr. Berryhill.

Just my two cents.

You really think 100k is reasonable? very strange opinion without knowing all the facts that i know.

Hey, add a $100k or $200k, but a million $ is clearly unrealisitic, or anything close to that. I personally would have been happy to pay $22k and get back $100k - $200k overnight, but hey :)

However, if you make a $1M sale to them now that you're in the driver's seat, my backseat driving will be just idle chatter. G/L

DCG,

I was disappointed to find that the Elephant.com website was not developed as a tribute to the Alabama Crimson Tide athletics program. :)

Good news on the successful battle however ... this will serve as a suitable case that all of us could fall back on if need be. Congrats to you and JB

This is the problem now... once companies wipo a domain... AND lose how can they expect to actually offer to buy it if they really need it!
Ask PricewaterhouseCoopers. :-D

Based on the Overture and the generic nature...100K would be a steal.

Can I buy it for $100,000?

Great question. Any input?

i am sure that john is not going to discuss his client's legal fees in a public forum but it would not surprise me if the legal cost was between $15,000-$25,000 on this one.

The only thing I will say on the topic is John is worth every penny.

Excellent work. That would have been a huge blow to the domain community if it would have gone the other way. It would have encouraged other companies to try their luck at getting other generic names.
well done John!

Agree 100%, nicely done and I hope Admiral is stinging from this...

yes very nice win, and now that the 'courts' have determined they are not 'entitled' to the domain, would be interested to know if they still persue it.

i could only dream of being in such a driver's seat.

I'll just call myself a pig, and go after Pig.com!

this domain is for sale!
[email protected]

BTW Adam, that could be your next domain! The only thing he has on it is a big pig

This caught my eye in the wipo email yesterday, and when I clicked it it said Adam Dicker, so I really wanted to read it.

Congrats that you won. There were some interesting issues in there, like when they said that the date they will use as a registration and use, for the case, is when you bought it. So the previous owner basicly is not counted in this, as having registered the domain?
