I had a few names preregged with dotster that I had confrimed the day before landrush via email and phone that I was first in queue for. I had preregged them the first day/minute of preregistrations. They caught two of them, and now they say what I was told was a mistake, someone preregged them in december.

Hopefully my one other one with website.in will still go to me.

Seeing how there is no real regulation on this...the registrars will keep what they want to keep.

Ok, I got some nice ones (I think :) )

llamadas.mobi (calls in Spanish!)
vea.mobi (see in Spanish)
streamingtv.mobi
some are still in Pool auction, but I got some good LLL's.

I'm done registering now!! GoDaddy is one of the cheapest I've seen, although none of the coupons I found worked :( With Dotster I found a coupon that saved me a lot. Just search in Google for dotster coupon, or godaddy coupon :)

Reading all of these "experiences", I have to say that GoDaddy hit a Home Run with the .mobi release.

Kudos Parsons, Kudos.

It's nice to match your existing .coms with the same .mobi. ie another.com and another.mobi. I was lucky enough to do that with my premium names thanks to Godaddy. However no luck with NNN.mobi :( Lesson learnt; don't book NN.mobi's when they are not allowed by the registry!

I note that a lot of names I pre-ordered at Dotster are still showing Dotster as the owner in the whois...are they keeping these for themselves or perhaps my card declined and they maybe going to throw them back ??

Strange that they (.mobi) think that 'Creature' is a premium name and 'England' is not.
That was a glaring omission on their part as England is surely premium. I picked up LondonEngland.mobi and this will be fun for me in next few weeks working on content.

Well this was our first ever experience registering domains with godaddy and I am impressed. We got 20 out of 26.

These are the ones we got:

OnlineAdvertising.Mobi
Handbook.Mobi
LoanGuide.Mobi
MortgageGuide.Mobi
HomeBiz.Mobi
Goggles.Mobi
EasyLife.Mobi
Lone.Mobi (its a word as well as typo of loan)
Home-Loan.Mobi
Home-Loans.Mobi
Credit-Report.Mobi
Credit-Score.Mobi
Debt-Consolidation.Mobi
Car-Insurance.Mobi
Auto-Insurance.Mobi
Home-Insurance.Mobi
Life-Insurance.Mobi
Online-Music.Mobi
Online-Dating.Mobi
Online-Games.Mobi

I could not get credit-card or credit-cards etc.

Now just hpoing that .mobi use picks up in future.

Thanks.

BTW, We could setup a "normal" website on a .mobi domain as well as a "mobile" certified website, by simply checking the browser agent's string and serve the content accordingly, right ?

I mean, they won't forbide the use of the .mobi domains outsite of mobile devices, right ?

They have already sold over 100,000 .mobi domains and are planning an auction of some of the premium names that were held back late next month. This should be good for establishing values.

Not quite...
they are showing Revenue Direct as the registrant, and Revenue Direct just happens to use the same PO Box and same address as Dotster...
not saying they did anything underhand off course, it noly only to be expected that they would have put their requests in first as it was their system, but still it would be nice for them to declare openly upfront that they could be competing with you as Enom did....

Go Daddy definately gets my vote as having done the best job for me!

Well, remember who is pushing this and think about what it is that they might want. After all, this isn't really any different than political lobbeying. These guys/companies put out the cash and marketing, they'll pretty much get what they want.

From what I hear, they want a different content standard specific to .mobi

I'd say, gaze a bit into the crystal ball and you'll see the REAL reason and future of what they intend to do with the ext.

Time will only tell... for now, this is domain speculation at its best :)

Personally, I think we are in for GOOD things.

I don't know why you guys are registering such long .mobi names. Who's going to want to type a long name on a mobile keypad?

Well, since we're all confessing to our .mobi purchases here, I just reg'd a couple of catchy 3 letter names via godaddy after reading this thread  and seeing the list of companies that are supporting it. If they pump the $$$ into raising the .mobi profile then it could work out quite well. I guess give it some time and see what happens. There were still good 3 and 4 letter names available if you are a bit creative.

Once you start buying names like FIZZ and RUST, it's probably time to stop.

Yep, weird names like google and yahoo. But I guess depends to what use you put the names.
