Well, all I know is that when Superman was away for a long time, Clark Kent was gone too. :-D

Wait a minute....didn't GregR once use Superman as his avatar?? OH MY GOD!!! d:) Was Nick Master really Clark Kent!!

That does it...I've got to stop watching CSI.

izopodian philsophy: Somethings things are better left unknown. I think this is one of those times as I don't think NP is the only "pseudo" name out there after doing "posting style" checks. Since "pseudos" are usually "active" posters, I would hate to discover another DNFer who wasn't who they said they were.

I vote to close this thread...

While I think that this would be a good logical approach.

It might be good to look at another view, maybe they just don't want to be found and might not be happy that people have taken to knocking on doors.

I think I feel the same way about popper as the rest of you and I hope that he's fine. Maybe, the best thing might be to just respect that
he doesn't want to be found? Could be good reason for it ... probably not but ...

btw...when you looked at the aerial map ... was there a mickey mouse shaped pool in the yard? :)

To answer the question about the pool. Many of the homes in the
development had pools. But, the house we speculate is 2105, we
can not see the backyard because of large trees.

Hmm ... that's exactly why I have been reserved about buying from and selling to people with inaccurate or incomplete whois info. Imagine calling someone a friend and it turns out that he may just be a split persona! But before we have any hard evidence, I'll render whoever he is benefit of the doubt. I must admit that I only had a handful of PMs with NamePopper, but he did give me a good lift in at least one critical situation and I appreciate that. (We had some unspoken differences, but let's remember the better part. :) )

However, I agree that perhaps it's time for us to stop this investigation. When this whole thing started back in early August, many of us were concerned with Nick's health and worried if he fell unconscious at home without anyone noticing it or something. Now more than 2 months later, it has really become a non-issue. If he did fall unconscious THEN, there's nothing we can do NOW. Unless you want to get something back from him, digging into his "real" identity and knocking on doors are a bit over the edge. Please remember domain names are just a minor part of one's life. If he's in bigger trouble (like health problem), I guess he needs something more than renewing his favorite .com's or .org's. For those of us who haven't even talked to him over the phone, we have already done more than enough on our part as "on-line buddies".

Like it or not, NamePopper is gone for now. So until he returns voluntarily, let's leave him alone.

I agree here with Name Slave. I hadn't dealt with him personally but I really feel that we should respect his privacy.

Hey guys,

I would consider Nick to be a very good friend. We did many deals over the last year, worked on some stuff together (I did the graphics for bigmouth.us) and we helped each other out with drops. On several occasions I paid for domains for Nick, because he apparently didn't have a credit card. He also gave me a couple of nice names.

The bottom line is that I am certain our friend Nick is a real person, and that the things we talked about, including his accident are real. I also agree that, for whatever reason, Nick Master is not his real name.

I don't think anyone created Nick, which is why I'm genuinely concerned about him. As I've said before, I don't want to know why he isn't here, just that he is OK.

This is the last piece of correspondence I had from him:

Man I need to shake something up.

I'm going to sell the GIF domain and site.
It finished June averaging xxxx+ vistors
per day - up from xxxx+ per day in May. I'm
having trouble finishing these Tutorials though.
I seem to have gotten bored. No focus.

I might just sell it.

Or maybe I need to find a good bargain to buy.

DAMN IT - I need to do something.

Buy - sell - whatever. lol

I got no spark.

Thanks for that post Beachie. Nick also struck me as one of the most genuine and open people I have ever met (a chord he obviously struck with a lot of people). If someone created the character it would be really remarkable (and they should be writing for Hollywood - not goofing off in a domain forum).

Also, some of the biographical info Nick gave for his story in DNJ was really fairly mundane. If you were going to make up a past history, wouldn't you give it more sizzle than owning a video arcade for a brief time, then bouncing around several jobs before discovering domain names?

I have bounced back and forth between thinking he was a created character and thinking he was a real person (whose story was real) but who for personal reasons felt he had to use a pseudonym. It was obviously one or the other. Your post has me leaning back toward the latter - even though I have gathered a lot of information that also makes the first possibility look plausible.

Ever try contacting a webhost that hosts any of his domains?. They should know his real name. Also, if any of you ever did speak with him on the phone, you could find out who pays the bills for that phone number. For those who know his IP# at certain times/dates, you could find out his name by contacting his ISP. Just do a ip lookup to find out what ISP he was using.

I thought that "GregR is Namepopper" talk would bring you back out of the woodwork! Where have you been hiding - we missed you! :)

If you need proof that GregR is not Namepopper, just ask yourself this. Would GregR EVER have sold flowers.org as cheaply as Nick did? Next contestant! :-D

As for the real, serious issue in this thread, while I think it's possible that someone else created NP, I think his personality was too unique and he was involved in too many transactions for that to have been the case. There are many reasons he may have needed to use a pseudonym and I think the fact that he did doesn't make any of us care about him less. I think everyone's over-riding concern is the same as the one Beachie expressed - just knowing that he is OK.
