I don't think Jello is a member here so I will probably get stiffed on those! I almost registed nosey.org myself. It is kind of a hilarious name (but I already have too many unintenionally hilarious names in my portfolio!)

People that don't honor the 20 DNF$ rules and stiff the ones doing the work really tick me off. To me it amounts to theft of services. It's simple to trace these clowns back.

I would suggest that if they don't pay up, they get reported to the moderators and banned from the forum.

Frickin scum!

i agree, but i would caution that many of us are using the same lists. Just because someone lists a name doesn't mean the same person got that name from them. An example would be oriole.org above. I almost regged that name, but decided against it well before visiting this thread. Another one, pacifist.org is in this thread, but I regged it several hours before it was posted. In fact, you could check out that I even asked for an appraisal over an hour before the post was made in this category. Just a head's up before we start offing people's heads. Also, I do think that if anyone does use this thread for services, they definitely should donate to the person who helped them.

The lists of names are posted publicly. If it really bothers you, go scan them yourself. I do it almost every day.

Having said that, I came to the conclusion that scanning thousands of names, checking their availability, and posting them here, only to see them snatched and offered for $20 in other sections of this forum and on eBay and elsewhere, is really kind of insulting. It pisses me off that some people are so desperate that they will suck up all these names as fast as we post them just to make a $10 profit.

Also, while we're on this subject, what's wrong with this system is that the people compiling the lists need to get DN$ regardless of whether or not anyone happens to find one they like. Any idiot can register the names we post, but actually compiling the lists takes considerable time and effort. Perhaps that's why there are only 2-3 people bothering to do it. The rest are just grabbing the names.

Maybe I'll have a change of heart, but I'm kind of in semi-retirement on this now.

It's obvious that some people are taking this waaay too seriously :) I owe people DN bucks for names that I have registered off here - and I plan to pay the people when I get enough points. I don't want to go making silly threads to accumulate enough points to pay them back, so they are just going to have to wait!
"Any idiot can register the names we post, but actually compiling the lists takes considerable time and effort." But aren't you looking through the expired lists anyway, looking for names YOU want to buy?

I have to agree with Steve. Also just because the names are being grabbed doesn't not mean they are due to them being posted here. Thousands of people monitor expired domains and chances are if you think they are good enough names to be posted here then many will be regged within a day as a result of being seen via some expired list.

Standing up for the people who use these lists without contributing any expired domain names but are acting in good faith :: I bought a dropped name yesterday that I spotted outside of this forum. I've now trawled through SOME of the lists to see if I owe someone DN$20 but just how much effort should I put into this?

If you found a name you found outside of this forum, there is no reason you should owe anyone DN$20.

I just registered FileMatch.com. I spotted it on DeletedDomains.com as a recent drop. I just did a search on this forum to see if anyone listed it... and it was a no show. Oh well, I thought it was good.
