Theo, use 'Lynx' and you'll never see those ads. I can't see Sedo dropping everything for that demand of yours, however righteous its substance. Lisa will probably sort it; given a reasonable chance, but your deadlines seem a little precocious. If I see it right, it wil be stopped, but in a reasonable amount of time, and not by your threats/promises. I mean, it's not as if your so endearing to them is it?

It is known that I have balls. But I don't put them on Sedo ads.

Know your rights people.

lol

giving sedo 24hrs

you got balls that's for sure :)

but maybe they will "knuckle under" to your demands

as the pen, is still mightier than the sword

Good Luck!

What is a "reasonable amount of time" in online business? The ad has been running for several days now. The auction starts on August 6th. I want Sedo to drop the ad immediately from my sales pages.

About Lynx, you can't be serious or you failed to see the point. It's not what *I* see, it's what my customers see. Should I tell them to open up a shell and launch lynx?

If their programmer can't exclude a path from displaying the offensive ad, they need better programmers and definitely a new project manager.

...this image does not contain any explicit adult material...

I agree with Theo, that's NOT The point.

You can't claim to be a "professional" domain brokers and have us send business buyers to your sales pages with a display ad for "LICKMYBUNGHOLE.COM" and a suggestive photo of a toilet on the page.

DO YOU REALLY NOT GET THAT???

I would have no issue with your ad when displaying a domain in the adult category, but am I going to subject a real estate agent, doctor, or company CEO to that kind of advertising? Absolutely not.

A 'reasonable amount of time' might be held to be as long as it takes for Sedo to cut it. That might not fall within your stipulated guidelines. I would say four days would be reasonable. I don't think they're going to rue your whingeing though Theo. Lighten up a little.

That's ok, Dale. Four days would be enough time for me to compile a detailed report and file it with the media interested in "juicy stories" about domainers. And I don't mean our own DNJournal, because that's where the problem lies: it's how the world views our industry, not how we view it from the inside out.

If I needed to "lighten up" I'd be making unnecessary comments that offer nothing to resolving this situation.

By the way, SedoPorn.com is available. Any takers?

Well, you seem to be going over the top as if anyone really cares particularly. I don't know why you insist on doing this.

I am a Sedo seller and I think this is an important issue as well. They WILL drive away the higher-paying customers with this nonsense. A high school business administration student could figure out that this is a bad idea.

I already stated that I don't agree with it. However, the issue has been made public with a justifiable complaint. Sedo *will* deal with it but I don't think they weigh certain members' complaints and threats too heavily.

Likewise - if a potential buyer visits one of my listings, I don't want them to be confronted by Miss Maybe-Nude and her porn domains. Keep that stuff off my pages.

This is beyond being "concerned" about something. It's a situation that should not be allowed to continue. If Sedo decides not to pull the ad from the affected pages, it means they don't really want my business. I just clocked 5 years with Sedo - that can be a quick divorce if needed, because I can't tolerate stupidity at a corporate level.

Even without graphics, the porn stuff distracts for any business discussion.

One thing we enjoy in this society is a freedom of choice.
Exactly right. We can choose not to accept this nonsense from Sedo ... and they can choose whether or not to lose business by continuing to do it.

What choice do I have over an ad that is imposed over the visitors of a for sale URL for my domains? What will Sedo do to undo potential harm and financial losses? I haven't even scraped the surface of the issue yet.

Dale, you're playing devil's advocate and it's fine if it were about your domains only.

Let's recap:

One day, Mr. 1/2 Brain - a project manager with a 1/2 brain at Sedo.com - told their graphics guy to design a skyscraper ad promoting the Adult Auction. Nice creative work from Mr. Pixels.

Mr. 1/2 Brain then told the programmer to plug the ad into their system. It looks beautiful, especially how classy the semi-nude blonde in the ad promises a lot of her hidden curves and shows very little.

But wait, there are words on that ad, asking from visitors to bid on "DirtyVideo.com", "SeePorn.com" and "Pornos.net". Surely Mr. 1/2 Brain has seen *where* the ad is displayed?

Nope. Mr. 1/2 Brain didn't tell the programmer that the ad should only be displayed on a controlled number of ADULT-CONTENT pages and definitely *not* where people from all over the world visit to place offers for domains such as kidsstories.com or stuffedanimals.com or professionalmd.com (domains are examples).

So now tens of thousands of visitors to all pages of Sedo.com EXCEPT of course for the Sedo.com homepage, are viewing this brilliant promotion for the August 6th auction.

Let's recap:

You forgot Sedo's response that basically says: we didn't mean to offend but we're doing it anyways and it will be reviewed, however, will probably decide that you are wrong anyhow because we want to promote our auction.

That's ok, the clock is ticking. I have enough material for at least one Friday Funny.
