Did any see the crazy bid on olgclotteries.ca today?? I wonder why and who it was. That is an average person's monthly income. I thought it was crazy..

Actually, they'll probably make their money back on that name. I was interested in it too, but not for quite that price. It's trademark free and likely comes with HUGE traffic.

I was complaining about domains won at Pool. Not being able to change dns settings without contacting them - depending on which registrar holds the domain. You contact them and wait, and wait, and then wait some more. Others like Internic even after satisfying the merge stuff still claim that Pool never sends notice so that the domain takes forever to make it into your account - again not able to manage your domains.

How does one get through to anyone at Pool?

I've even withheld $$$ from auctions to try to get resolutions from them. Twice I've done it and twice they've just cancelled my account and eaten the domains  I've been able to open a new account each time....go figure!

Sooner or later this market will mature and companies like pool that haven't cleaned up their act will join the dinosaurs

In the meantime thank God for high blood pressure medication.....

I got some from the Big Drop little while back, couple being:

SweetLeaf.ca (Decrim is just a matter of time ;) )
BuyComputers.ca (Something I sell already.)

...with my best one, a 1-Worder, under development right now and scheduled for launch within the week. It will be a multimedia file sharing and social networking site specific to Canadiana (which I'll mention soon ;) ).

I also have a few other names from before, such as:

Demographics.ca
Jedi.ca
ILoveHockey.ca
VMail.ca
WooHoo.ca
Mtrl.ca
TorontoIsland.ca
Cybrary.ca

I encourage everyone to start developing their premium .ca holdings and give people even more to get excited about when visiting Canadian cyberspace. I have developmental plans for all of the aforementioned names (unless duely motivated to part ways vis-a-vie appropriate compensation - monetary or otherwise ;) ); and can't wait to see what others come up with!

Viva .ca! :)

Currently working on development for magazines.ca and it is an affiliate site for magazine subscriptions - looks very promising.

Next in line: posters.ca

I agree, It is time to develop Canadian domains - the ca extension is getting a lot of exposure.

Thanks,
Rob

Couple of decent names there Rob ... 2 of the best of the last 10,000 I've seen in this thread. Good luck with them.

I phoned them this morning. Their number is on their website under 'contact' and their hours are pretty much business hours.

I can't agree with you more. At the moment .ca is extremely popular in the www and not just in Canada. If we continue to park our names we're only destroying what we have all put alot of time and money into. I continue to earn revenue in parking with my .ca and I have a good handfull which have earned a steady stream for years without monetization. I'm making every effort to develop whatever I can, and have opened sites that previously didnt earn money parked which now earn money from regular users. Some I've developed still dont earn but they do give value to our ccTLD as a whole.
To top it off I have several minisite with life and visitors which I can use in several networks to help with popularity down the road.

Where is a good place besides namedrive to park .ca domains? I am getting sick of seeing medical, travel, and financial keywords paying the pittance they are there.

I have some at parked and they do okay, others not so well there. Same with Fabulous. I have better luck with other tlds at trafficclub than I do with .ca's. Sedo seems to suck for everything so I haven't tried my .ca's there yet.

I had some success at sedo a while back, I was getting some $1.00 plus clicks on a mortgage name... but the ppc kept falling and ended up being pennies... I find my .cas do best on ND now, about $0.20 or so per click on average... but I have switched a couple over to Parked to see what that will be like and so far it is no better... about $0.18 per click but it has only been a few days and a few clicks...

All in all ppc is very low for me everywhere right now, but on a good note my .cas are my highest earners...

A plus for parked especially for porn related domains is they allow multiple clicks.

But it's sad to see parked domains getting .05 cents a click when your websites with adsense using similiar domains/keywords etc is getting .70 plus.

It's too bad, I like Ed and the others from namedrive they have great service and a decent setup to work with, but in the end its money we all want.

I've taken blocks of 20 sure-fire revenue makers and moved them around to other parksites. I try my best to leave them for 2 weeks to a month and I watch them daily. The absolute worst experience I had was with sedo. Apparently they gave almost no traffic and had 0 revenue. I've seen some revenue at other places but never enough to keep me there. I always run them back to namedrive. You will never see top bid for click on any source, even direct with google. They need their cut too.

The best earnings will come from developing the site to its potential. That does take time and investment at times but the return is worth it.

on a side note:
Keep your eyes open for other publishing sources outside of googles machine. Feeding that giant is fine right now, but mark my words today that if your earning revenue from ppc you will regret googles existence at some point. They're getting too big and with little competition. Competion needs help to keep a balance.

I've tried a couple services so far. Moved all my .cas to smartname.com and it grew my revenues by more than 50%, so I highly recommend them.

I see podcasts.ca is available in the TBR this week, not many other treasures from a quick scan of the list. Who would let a name like that go?

Good question and with a thin tbr this week it will probably fetch a good amount.
