Nice domain :)

Thanks. :)

Haha that's funny I registered freedatingonline.ca a couple months back. Ovt is really nice but the words are in the wrong order for type-ins.

OVT is indeed nice for that one. Type-ins can be tricky though on that one like you said. Lots of ways for "online" to go.

Freedating. ca gets about 30-40 type-ins per month. Maybe I should register Datingfree.ca to be on the safe side. lol

Pool also got clocks.on.ca as well...

I managed 1 so far, rest are in pool auctions!

Does anyone know more about these older .ca's with the province codes - do you have to be a resident of that particular province to become the registrant? Afterwards, can you have cira drop the provincial code to make it a regular .ca?

I just won clocks.on.ca, so this means I am now entitled to the rights of clocks.ca, and I will drop the provincial code.

How do you drop the province suffix? I thought that names like clocks.on.ca were a subdomain of on.ca , didn't know you are able to drop the suffix anyone got a link to information on it?

Cheers,

Jay

If prices are any guide, here's a few of the domains of interest that closed on pool today:
clocks.on.ca $1,015
aqua.ca $1001
awesome.ca $825
bti.ca $575
arms.ca $370
ftf.ca $210

I've done it in the past by just asking my registrar to register the .ca extension on my behalf after owning the provincial one - I think I mave gotten an approval request by cira.ca for it too, not sure.

Nice prices Beaker :)
So, I,d like to showcase Vermin.ca,
But I guess this is not the place to request offers before the drop and auction, so, I will put it up at, "ccTLD Domains for sale"

Nice prices Beaker :)
So, I,d like to showcase XXXXXXXX
I imagine its worth more than $50 us.
I,ll put it up, special for you Df,ers
Anybody willing to pay $50 us, can start off, I,ll leave it here for a few days the highest offer takes it :) Its Registered at Namespro.ca

Please don't put up domains for sale in your posts. This thread got banned once before because of these kind of issues.

There are proper forums and thread starting procedures for putting names up for sale.

I'd appreciate you editing it out. :)

Heres how it works...

If somebody else owns clocks.ca and you want to register clocks.on.ca, then you will have to submit a request through CIRA and if the individual who owns clocks.ca is generous enough to let you own the provincial code and accepts through CIRA, you are entitled to the provincial code.

However if clocks.ca isn't registered because of a provincial code clocks.on.ca, then you are entitled to clocks.ca! You just have to prove you own clocks.on.ca!

Hope this makes sense... its late, good night!

steriods.ca is spelt wrong.. FYI

Okay I think I'm done in .ca drops for awhile... these drops sure add up to a lot of money especially if your bidding for the top names!

Hope my investments pay off in the long run... I would like to know all of your opinions on .ca domains and if you think that any cctld in the future will once receive the type-in traffic the .com extension does?

Do you think the .ca extension will heat up and eventually take off with sales? What do you think will happen that will spike .ca into life?

Those that hold generics, have you seen increases in traffic over the past months/years?

I know steriods.ca is mispelled. Hoping for the best with it I suppose.

Q. Do you think the .ca extension will heat up and eventually take off with sales? What do you think will happen that will spike .ca into life?

A. In my opinion over the last few years .ca has become quite recognised. It's actually beginning to become a major player now which is something that's taken some time but for some reason the majority of Canadian business (End User) seem to really prefer .ca over .com and my guess is it's a Pride thing. As for sales this last two years has been huge in terms of sales profit for most .ca sales as opposed to the years prior. The market is indeed growing. Traffic to a .ca name generally takes a bit of work but it can be done and is generally stable once established at least in my experiences.

Alot of my .ca's I've grabbed for development purposes but a few will be sold if the offer is alright in future.
I believe I'll be spending alot of time with .ca's from now on rather than other ext.

All the best of luck!

If you operate in Canada then the two biggest extensions to have are .com and .ca. They are the two you see almost everywhere. Young people growing up now in Canada are seeing .ca as much as .com so I think type ins for .ca will only improve. But as .com deals with the whole world, .ca is pretty much limited to the Canadian market which is relatively small but has high internet penetration. The whole domain market continues to heat up but the average person still doesn't get it. We are far from a top in the domain market, it's still early days. Many people and businesses in Canada will be needing a domain name in the future, and .ca will be their top one or two choice. Everything is pointing to good growth in the .ca space, but I think it will be a gradual process and won't happen overnight. In the meantime develop as many of your .ca as possible and try to add some Web2.0 content if possible, even if it's just a single page information site.

So anyone still hand-regging .ca's? I have stayed out of the drops the last few weeks because most of the ones I try to get for $15 are going for $25-$50 now...

I still check my "available list" every now and then and if the mood strikes I go back and see if one or two is still available... For example, the other day I was reading this article: http://www.cnn.com/2007/HEALTH/conditions/04/09/statins.flu.reut/index.html and I remembered that statins.ca was on my list so I checked it and it was still available... it has ok numbers - 3,160,000 results on Google, OVT is about 2,000... I have not had any clicks on it yet, but I think this will do well once I get around to developing it... I am hoping that some medical keywords will pay ok on adsense... we shall see...

I also got Twitter.ca a little while ago... I was a little concerned about a possible TM but it is a dictionary word and I have it set up to display ads about bird watching... Clicks are surprisingly good for that, averages about $0.10 but that is brought down by one famous $0.01 click...

I only hand register. I don't do drops at all. There is still quite a few good names to be had and I would rather pay 10 then more. But that is just me...I'm Scottish and cheap.

None of them were for me but for an old friend I might add. I am going to help her develop them.
