I negotiated a discount with them as well I believe they have one tier at 100 domains with them and another at 250 domains as far as i know those are the only two tiers of discounts.

Cheers,

Great thinking DropWizard, but I think they make their money anyways!!! So I am not for it, in this aspect.. renewals. Little or no support from them and they can fly a kite for it. I want the least possible rate.

These Registrars, like Pool and Sibername have raked in their profits with the TBR. They don't need any more from the renewals I think.

Pool isn't a Registrar they are a drop company that hires registrars. And the profit from .ca drops has just gotten attractive. There was little action there a couple of years ago. Most of the registrars make their money from other services such as hosting.

For instance My ID (one of the worst registrars) last I saw had only a little over 5k in names. If you're making around $3 per renewal that's only $15,000 a year in revenue. How do you run a business and support on that. No wonder they engage in theft of their clients revenue to support themselves. :upset:

I definitely vote for fat and happy registrars.

I do not use Sibername for anything but TBR personally, I use Namespro to register all of my .cas now and any I pick up from TBR are transferred there as soon as possible... I simply emailed them and asked for a discount code and they sent me one, 15% off for 1 year, not to bad at all...

If you have a discount code for Namespro please PM it to me, I use them all the time and always see the discount code box when I check out, but never have a code to use!

I have a personal code that I would rather not share... Just email them and explain to them that you plan to do a lot of business with them and ask them to send you a promo code... that is all I did and they obliged...

I second Namespro as well, their service is second to none. You can send emails at any time, day or night, and they usually respond back in hours (often in minutes). I've never seen anything like it. And prices are pretty decent too.

I don't have any ties with them (other than keeping lots of my names there), I'm just a big fan.

I missed several bids at Sibername too. Hope some of the other registrars pick up the slack. Nice set of names today.

I really wish I would of took a deeper look at some of the names dropping.. missed some goldmines!

I had the same problem at Sibername today... I couldn't bid at 12:40??? Could this be because I'm not on the same computer as when I signed up?

I like minorhockey.ca a lot, wish I would of got that :) What did everybody else get?

i like that one too and totally missed it when scanning through the drop list. i focused too much on looking for single words.

Who the hell is Burmac Business Systems Ltd? Seems i have a lot of learn about getting good .ca's.

There are hundreds of registrars who go after TBR, and many only charge the minimum. Your all just throwing money at pool and sibername, and the worst thing about that is the people your giving the money to are people you'd probably warn your friends about. sibernames double dipped my CC, and pool holds the traffic on domains for too long when they win them for you. I moved 5 or so domains from sibername to namespro and the owner sent me an email basically telling me im second fiddle now.

Many of the .ca registrars are good folk who happen to hold your domains in high regard. Many dont charge idiotic fee's to get them in drop for you either. I used to use about 15 or more registrars to choreograph my pick-ups for TBR. Was a big job but had much success. I won 4 today and got them for peanuts too. I didnt get the big money ones but to be honest, the price was just stupid and going after the almost premiums is far more profitable in many cases.

Meanwhile I've been cold calling many good .coms and getting them for lunch money while your all paying hundreds for .ca.

If some of you are looking to build up some good stock you might start phoning up some old .com owners and offering a thousand or two for their 20-50k domains, youd be suprised how many of them say "hell yeah" for 1k. If you do, youde better hurry up.. many have already been cold-called several times. look for the unlikely dictionary domains.

I wouldnt even mention it but I've got more domains than i want now. Hope some of you canuckdians see the light.

Does anyone know what was the final bid for it??

I think that was the highest bid for it at Sibername, but sibername didn't get it. Westmount marketing did. Is that a private registrar? Is it ET? Anyone know?
