Anyone from Quebec know why the term 'consignation' is sought after all of a sudden?

I have the .ca for this word and my hits went from <5 per day to now 140+ per day. I think it has to do with either recycling or consignment sales, but why the interest all of a sudden in mid January? Thanks for any help. (I think this happened last year around this time too).

Check your other domains and see if there is a pattern. This sounds like something that was happening during the fall. Domains would all of a sudden shoot up to 130-150 hits a day for a couple of days and then vanish. Only to reappear on another domain. Or sometimes the next week. Usually happened on a Mon, Tues Wed.

Never did figure out why or where:?:

Nope!

Downturns = unemployed people looking for new fields = new domainers = prices going up = time to raise prices

It may affect companies but honestly they haven't been a large factor in the aftermarket to date anyway.
I do not think anyone can properley evaluate this as this industry has never been through a recession. It is too new. That is of course how Yun Ye and Kevin ham made their big moves after the dot com bubble is it not??? I do think however if a recession does come into play that it will def. affect the domain market why would this industry be unfazed? Less ad dollars means less cpc means less value in anything realated to advertising means less value for domains. I could easily be wrong but i think to pretend like this industry is immune to the general economic conditions in which we live is pretty wishful thinking.

It's because you are getting typo traffic from consignaction.ca - which was recently launched heavily promoted (custom glossy cardstock flyers distributed to residences and businesses throughout the Quebec area)...

Consigne = deposit ... so it has to do with recycling bottles or cans that have a deposit. The promotion mailed out is encouraging people to register their business and the they will give out 4 prizes of $5000 each in a random draw amongst participating businesses.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,

Rob

I wonder if they want to hear something like "I park my .ca's at Sedo to monetize the type-in traffic!".

Some sibername auction endings:
teacherjobs.ca 810
porcelaindolls.ca 620
jumpsuits.ca 560
blacklights.ca 510

Not my cup of tea, but I got the one I really wanted, and watched my number two get bid on in the final minute AGAIN with no bids prior. So I bid it up and let it go! ;)

Time to challenge that. I forgot about the auction but got bumped on mideast 1 min before closing. It was at $15 (min bid). That means it was the only bid before wed 2PM.

These are the rules of the auction:

Your account will list only the domains we have successfully received and
you have placed a bid before the Wednesday CIRA release at 02:00 PM EST.

So if the bid was only $15 there were no other bids by that time and NO ONE should have been able to bid.

I've been a broken record about that for a few weeks now. Sibername knows but it doesn't look like it's going to change, so we may have to live with it.

I placed bids on 10 names for this weeks TBR.ca drop – on Wednesday night I checked to see that Sibername had secured 4 – I had won the bid on 3 of the domains, only one had another lower bid
My Bid $50 --- Their Bid $35
Today – (Thursday) I receive a message I have been outbid on that domain the winning bid $51

Now Come on - I emailed Eugene - it better work
