yea they implemented the website sales $9.95 a month ago and newly implemented it for domain sales. This should make there be no $5 domain sales there but most likely higher priced $25 and up.

I like it on DNForum here better anyways ;-)

Nah, the mere fact that the fee is "per thread" kills their business model right off the bat. If I were to pay that much to list a domain I'd use Ebay.

Ah you misread my post. I'm 100% behind you. SitePoint is killing their forum. I'd never use that site to sell my domains.

It's funny because there has been talk at WHT recently about charging ALL members a fee. Seems to me that smaller forums will rise when larger forums with large revenue from advertisers decide to milk the cow down to its last drop.

INet is also used to killing forums. Yaxay used to be huge and now its down the gutter. ;-)

The quickest thing that gets fixed is their ad server when it goes down.

yaxay was great when Carlos owned it. Nowadays it's run by 17 year old moderators.

They claim it is to pay for server expenses

The honest opinion is they seem to have 3-5 co-founders plus they have an office

They probably make a ton of money but once its split between the cofounders(sitepoint.com money only) there probably isn't too much left

actually..the did it to get rid of people who only post crap websites for sale. They are aiming for a more mature & higher end environment. They rather want less traffic to their forums than having every other thread listing sites for sale.

There are just too many craps listed for sales at WHT, Yaxay and even DNF.

Unlike most other forums, they don't need this extra poor quality traffic.

Well if thats what they are trying to do then imposing a large fee is the stupidest business move I ever saw. All they had to do screen the listings , oh - thats work.

Crazy with a fee like that, i dont like sitepoint at all, i tried to sell a website there a time ago and my sales thread was totally destroyed with comments like : "this price is way to high", "lol you want sell it" etc... alot of unmature people there so the price is definitely not worth it!

As long as they squash the people posting stupid comments, then their fee is probably a good move. It should raise the average quality of domains being posted, and they have a high enough profile that there may be some benefit to paying the fee if the domains are "good enough".

I would not mind a $9.95 flat fee for all future posts there - always looking for multiple selling venues. But per thread??!

Thanks Adam for keeping DNForum affordable :-D
