There are countries that are rich in mineral resources, it has brought nothing but war to them.
Congo, Sierra Leone are examples that come to mind.

The minerals aren't typical "ore body" resources, they are porphyry and vein deposits. This makes them harder to mine and yields less profit than traditional ore body deposits. As a geologist, I'm curious to see the concentrations and the areas in which they were discovered. Unfortunately, Afghanistan lost one copper deposit to a Chinese firm due to a corrupt official. Trillion dollars? Maybe. However, I suspect Afghanistan and its people will only see a few tens of billions.
