I do have one question for those who chose not to invest in .mobi, disbelievers etc.

Why do .mobi's continue to change hands for such high prices? Why?

Because by definition, there's always suckers in the marketplace. I'm tired of repeating myself, I'm glad you are making money, but don't insult our intelligence with the pro .mobi BS. I see 4 people over and over, pumping like there's no tomorrow..

Provoking older members, not being able to substantiate your BS and registering like flies 3 word .mobis for sure won't make us change our mind...

Domaining boards have debated the .mobi extension for more than 123 days. Thousands of posts dissecting every angle of the extension and yet premium keyword/term .mobi's continue to sell at incredible prices.

Again, I pose the question as to why this continues to occur.

I hate to quote myself, but probably you still didn't get my point...

JP also said TM protection, but so far on this forum I've seen 2 and 3 word irrelevant .mobis always getting "appraised" by the same people, harvesting stupid threads and the likes.. So let me re-phrase, apart from suckers in the marketplace there appears to be plenty of IDIOTS.. case in point all the "harvester" "available gems" etc..http://www.dnforum.com/showthread.php?t=205731

If you turned a $80 registration to $5000, take the money and run - don't dump & pump into a meaningless extension...

That is all you have to say. Hmmm... Let's take the recent sale of Invest.mobi for example.

Bidding started at $10,000. As you are aware, you can purchase a nice preowned vehicle for that kind of money. Anyway, the bidding ended at $22,500. Now it's pretty safe to say that all 7 bidders were willing to pay at least $10k. Are you saying that they are all suckers? Willing to blow a large sum of money on a worthless extension?

see, my case in point is everything is relative in this world. For you $10K is a nice pre-owned vehicle, for me it's not...

and yes - do you want me to re-state for the 3rd time that they are suckers dumping money on a meaningless extension?

Where did the .mobi haters go!? Since .mobi was launched, a lot of the .mobi haters were banned and/or terminated and/or converted to investing .mobi.

Im not starting any debates, just curious that the tide has been quite calm.

I am here but never expressed my opinion on this forum. :)

Again, I pose the question as to why this continues to occur.

Im going to answer this question, many factors are likely to contribute but lets try and narrow it down.

1. SPECULATION !
2. SPECULATION !
3. Domainers who ( and yes I am generalizing ) do not have the capital to actually invest in proven extensions are spending $30 and up on the hopes ( we call hope speculation btw ) it goes big.
4. And this applies to the individuals who do have capital . The big dollars sales again by domainers who are speculating and have more money then brains and take bigger risks.

There is absofu**inglutely no other reason in the fu**ing world PERIOD :)

At the end of the day green is green and that’s all I've been seeing since 09-26-2006. I wish you hadn't of missed the boat. We could be celebrating together.

I couldn't be happier for you, when you starting to see sales @ 30K a month on .mobi give me a buzz...

It's great to see even the toughest .Mobi sceptics seeing sense.

and this is coming from somebody who can't invest $30 on a regular subscription?

I think you might want to rest your case. These guys know nothing about the mobile web biz and they think dot mobi it will generate enough traffic, let alone conversions, to be worth anything.

As far as i see, there are 2 groups - the fools and the hypers - the fools are those that got fooled by the hypers. The hypers know that dot mobi is useless, but they need to hype up the market to offload their stuff to the fools. There's also a group with some money that started as fools - they got fooled into buying dot mobis off the secondary market, and now they need to hype up the market so as to recover their investment.

Where have you been all this time? :) Excellent summary only I'd go as far as adding actual member titles in the two categories..

Well they know who they are...

Some people simply are too rich. If they can blow $10,000 in a casino or stock market in a day, why can't they buy a mobi for that price? And besides the herd mentality. A swarm of rat swarm into a river, and rest just follow.

cant we all just get along, how many people said .coms were worthless, how many set .net were worthless, how many said .org were worthless, how many said .us wasnt relevant and useless. people keep saying extensions are worthless only to eat their own words down the road.

doesnt mean every extension is worth something, just saying that perhaps instead of having to eat crow, just dont invest in the extensions you dont believe in and then stay away from them altogether.

those of you who dont believe in .mobi have nothing to gain by saying it is worthless and stupid. the only thing that can possibly happen is that you end up looking like a fool if you are wrong. if you are right nobody is really going to care, but if you are wrong you are going to look ridiculous.
