GoDaddy will nickle and dime you to death and be laughing while they do it. I don't like companies that do that, I also don't appreciate companies that sell to the end users cheaper than they would to their own resellers in the chain.

godaddy is OK (barely) if you can survive through their pages and pages of attempts to sell extra services, but if you ever have a problem that needs human intervention their service is pretty lousy, IMO. Perhaps they provide special account managers to hold your hand if you have thousands of domains with them (like Mike, above), but for ordinary mortals their service sucks. I will continue to transfer away my remaining domains as and when they come up for renewal.

haha.. the account manager is pretty useless, but it doesn't hurt having one... i'll have him renew my domains and/or register my domains in bulk every so often.... but i also have a wwd reseller account and i am an etp with enom.. basically i started out with godaddy as well a while ago and have been pretty happy with em, but now leaning more towards enom, they are the best for resellers.

expert registration

I don't use GD to register domains. I'm referring to the boatloads of pages that appear when one assumes ownership of a domain (push, transfer).

Godaddy seems like a ok registrar but there Control Panel is a POS.

So I stick to namecheap.

The only other main registrar I have ever used was dotster, so I guess I can't compare the control panel to much else...

Damb, I guess it gets much better...

I'm so used to using the godaddy panel though....

I would never use them as a host. It was only a year or so ago when Godaddy banned googlebot from their servers. Sites were dropping out of Google's index left and right. They fixed that problem, but it should never have happened in the first place.

Don't forget the banning and essential hijacking by GD of active web sites that had controversial (but not illegal) content, to which illustrious president Parsons objected. They didn't even use GD's DNS.

Could you fill me in on that perhaps? I'm afraid I must have missed that one!

In general, the bigger the provider, the worse the service.

Go Daddy is huge now. So don't expect much personal service if you have an urgent/ special need.

I only have a dozen or so names at GoDaddy.

I get treated like royalty at Moniker, so most of my domains are there.

I used to used GoDaddy, but then Dotster offered me a free upgrade to $6.85 domains and $6 transfere's with a years renewal, so now everytime one of my domains is nearing renewal I transfere it to Dotster for another year. So far I'm a happy customer. If only they accepted PayPal payment though, that's when I used NameCheap!

.

I have to admit that Godaddy have given me personal service when I have had an urgent/special need.

The occasion in question was help from my account executive.

But I think they can often give pretty decent help through their standard phone support too (but not always).
