Frenzy? that must have slipped right by me...Nothing like the .mobi frenzy though.

Frenzy? that must have slipped right by me...
There was a bit of a goldrush to it... as unfounded as it may have been.
Kind of reminds me of you...have no idea what the **** you're doing.
The problem with new extensions is they have little mindshare, and the traffic isn't there. From that angle .xxx is crippled from the start.I've got to disagree Kate.
.xxx is a niche, but it relates to possibly the biggest niche on the net. The rationale behind it makes a certain amount of sense; easy for parents to block; obvious for anyone looking for something to jerk off to; everyone knows what they're getting.
.xxx is not an all-purpose extension, it's a niche extension. So the only end users will be from the adult biz.Apart from the odd name here and there, I haven't seen many people trying to offload their .xxx names. People want to hold onto them. That bodes well for the future of the extension IMO.
Yet, some of us continue to make money with the .mobeeThere was a bit of a goldrush to it... as unfounded as it may have been.

Traffic traffic traffic !
Without traffic domains are dead. Useless.
If you want to shoot yourself in the foot, .xxx is the ticket![]()

I'm not really familiar with that market but I am under the impression that they don't pay top dollar even for good domains. They just reg an average or downright crap domain and develop it.
I don't know if GFY is representative but that would be one example.
There is always hope for the top keywords but not for the second-tier domains and everything under.
If you look at the 'showcase' threads here or at NP, well it's painfully obvious virtually none will sell.
It's just domainers flushing money down the toilet.
The excitement is because .xxx is new. It's yet another vanity extension.
I doubt the adult landscape is going to change significantly or that we will be seeing a lot of prominent adult sites on standalone .xxx domains imo.
The adult industry didn't ask for this TLD.
As usual, it's a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. It's an opportunity for a registry and few insiders to make money (licence to print money).
Frankly, when you look at it objectively the odds are not so good...
It's another industry-specific TLD that has not been embraced by the industry it purports to represent (.aero .museum .coop .pro .mobi .etc .ring .a .bell ?).
...Somebody said it's as bad as .name, I think it's a reasonable statement...
Right. Was it personal attack on me? If yes, what the XXXX or who the XXXX, are you? I like people to be fair and square. Don't like people who turns blind on others and selectively attacking some. It's not good nature to attack people personally. These people will worship some other people whatever they're doing (even if they go to the loo) while they just want to step on other people's shoulders. (selective abstraction)At the end of the day, the poster should look at the title of the thread...Showcase.
As for the poster, yeah, okay...someone who joined in 2004 but never posted a single time until this thread. Must have gotten a real boner regging .xxx. Can't wait to post them asking for appraisals in a showcase thread and at the same time posts the same names for sale.
Kind of reminds me of you...have no idea what the **** you're doing.
I disagree with an earlier post, I think you will see .xxx websites pop up a lot in the adult world. Magazine ads, etc. But we'll wait and see.
The advice to not reg crap names can be said about any extension. With .xxx, adult keywords and subjects have a reasonable chance of having demand.
I'd even say if a company can't afford an adult term in .com, they might go for the .xxx as it's such a good fit to that industry.
I don't think you can say the entire adult industry doesn't want it, who polled every single company in the industry?
.xxx might give new people and companies a way into the industry, especially with top tier keywords in .xxx
we'll probably still see sales of things like homes.xxx and mortgage.xxx
What, I get a blowjob when I buy a new home?
Customer and consumer.... the customer will dictate whether .xxx becomes successful, not them.
