I have said from day one and I still say today, mobi supporter or not, that I believe this was gross overpayment for a domain name in most extensions, including .mobi.

As for your last paragraph - they can't have had the foresight or they would be doing it already. If they started now, it would be through hindsight - mTLD beat them to it. And it would take a helluvalot of tv adverts to make an impression against all the major companies who have statrted using their .mobi names.
