...Yes....nothing else.....we all know that if your site/name or anybody's site/name for that matter was regged with a sucks.com at the end and re-directed to a gay porn site.....and u worked at a registrar..and had access to see who the f*ck just regged your namesucks.com......you would do the same!!...Slick Rick included!....so....let's just all cut the f*cking bullshit here.......
So, the ends justifies the means huh? So I guess this would really apply to 'any' situation then. O..kayy. Scary line of thought and reasoning there Tony.

I agree...and the smart cookie wouldn't tell the person who regged it who looked it up...basically all CP had to do.....DENY until proven Guilty...:)
Ok, some good info to know when dealing with 'someone'.

wow.

An intersting comment from long time Myrtle Beach domainer Marcia Lynn Walker who posted she will be starting a site about Chef Patrick. This was posted on Ricks Blog.
her post is below:

Although I loathe spending another dime that'll see no monetary return regarding self-aggrandizing cook patrick, I just regged crookpatrick.com and will, as my 1st amendment rights allow, blog about my experience dealing with him, as well as allow the input of the various industry people who've contacted me telling me he's ripped them off, too.

I'll also include links to sites and blogs that detail his unethical activities since he entered this industry in 2008.

So consider this a heads up patsy boy - and no, there's no whois privacy involved.
============================================================

What is this...!!??

This is starting to smell like a seriously orchestrated campaign going on:

First,

(i) Someone (unnamed 'friend') provokes & tempts Chef Patrick ('ChefPatrickSucks.com' is registered, and, pointed to a Gay Porn site).....WHY was this domain registered at Moniker, where Chef Patrick had access to rego details - and, not at any other Registrar?

Then,

(ii) When he takes the bait, and, makes a silly move (breaches privacy to find out who did this), he loses his job at Oversee.net.

Then,

(iii) He's publicly exposed as unethical - and his reputation shredded (Rick S's blog post).

Now,

(iv) We have this Marcia Lynn Walker (from Myrtle Beach, no less!) going to the trouble of setting up a site with an abusive name (CrookPatrick.com) dedicated to airing alleged rips-off's that Chef Patrick is supposed to have been involved with.....to be absolutely certain that his reputation is shredded.

...Unnamed 'friend'...then, Rick Schwartz...now Marcia Lynn Walker...

Either, Chef Patrick has been secretly doing a whole lot of secret, unethical, things that no one has talked about until now...

...Or.....Someone really doesn't like this guy...!!

I think most people are over the chef patrick thing now or getting over it.

People are more concerned that have their domains at Moniker that their own privacy was breeched.

I don't think so homey. I don't consider name calling or insulting gestures as grave as some seem to , to break company policy (perhaps a crime) at a job I haven't been at for 6 months. Unless one didn't want the job, or felt they were 'entitled' to do whatever they want there. Wonder what would be 'justified' by some if there was a 'actual threat' involved??!? Mass preventive murder to 'stymie the threat'?!? Good grief.

......Chef Patrick aside....it makes me wonder what kind of company allows an employee to basically take all the heat for their failure to monitor their systems more closely. I agree what Chef did was wrong...but Moniker is oddly quiet......

I think Chef did the right thing! I would have done the same. People have to take responsibility for their actions. What did this guy expect? He registers a domain name, that will be used against the person he knew. What was the reason for this registration? It is the same as me going now and registering dnforumsucks.com, but at the same time smile in Adam's face when I meet him at the domain conference. Don't you think it will offend the owner? Also, what Chef did is not easy to classify as an illegal act. The only thing Chef had to do is to threten to Moniker with the legal action:
"...any third party threatens legal action against Moniker Privacy Services LLC"

Moniker's legal print allows info sharing:

"Disclosure of Contact Information; Right to Terminate the Privacy Service. You acknowledge and agree that Moniker Privacy Services LLC has the absolute right as it deems necessary in its sole discretion, without providing notice and without any liability to Moniker or Moniker Privacy Services LLC whatsoever, to reveal to third parties, including any UDRP provider, the contact information provided by you to Moniker Privacy Services LLC in connection with the applicable domain name and to suspend, cancel or terminate our provision of the Privacy Service to you if we reasonably perceive that:

* the domain name violates or infringes a third party's trademark, trade name or other legal rights or that you are utilizing the domain name to engage in activities which are prohibited by this Agreement;
* the action is necessary to comply with any applicable laws, government rules or requirements, ICANN policies or requirements, including UDRP providers, subpoenas, court orders, requests of law enforcement or government agencies; or
* any third party threatens legal action against Moniker Privacy Services LLC, Moniker or any of its affiliates that is related in any way to the domain name, or claims that you are using the domain name registration in a manner that violates any law, rule or regulation, including the terms of this Agreement, or is otherwise infringing a third party's legal rights."

https://www.moniker.com/legal.jsp

I must say though, that I never met Chef Patrick. I met Rick though, and was a member of his forum. It will be beneficial to know all the information related to this case: who registered this domain name?
what was the purpose of registration?
how this person is associated with Rick?

The last question is especially important, because this conflict is between two parties who organize domain name events.

For me Rick is a domain King. He closed some amazing deals, and I respect him for that. Having said that I didn't understand what was that flowers.mobi thing. The name was reportedly sold to Rick for $200k, and recently it was sold for $5k by Rick on the auction. Anybody with brain will be confused about this transaction, and I do have a mixed feeling about it. What flowers.mobi has to do with this particular case? Well, Rick is acting as a whistle-blower here, and exposes Chef Patrick to the whole domaining world. For me personally flowers.mobi is a shady transaction. I remember that Rick was pumping .mobi, and because of that sale alone .mobi took off and received a lot of hype. Many of the domainers believed in that hype. What I am saying is that Rick has interests, like any other businessman, and when he is buying flowers.mobi his interests to promote .mobi extension, and when he is exposing Chef Patrick his interests might be taking out the competition. this is my view of the situation, I might be wrong though :)

Irrespective of RS's reasons for disclosing CP, and they may well be many and varied, the underlying problem here is that a member of staff at Moniker was able to access private and confidential information about a registrant when that registrant had paid for a privacy service that turned out to be all but worthless.

It would seem that domainers have split generally into three camps:-

1) Supporters of RS
2) Supporters of CP
3) Those who are supporters of neither and see one or more 'bigger' problems being exposed as a result of this incident being exposed.

I have to say I 'generally' agree with RS's observations concerning the domaining industry (I have never had any communication of any kind to my knowledge with RS by the way, apart that is from posting a few replies on his blog). This does not make me a supporter of RS in this instance, for I realise that people are motivated by different things, and I doubt if the 'Businessman' RS did not at least consider the wider industry consequences of him publishing the details of this case. Having said that it is more than clear that what CP did was totally unethical, he ignored the 'Chinese Walls' that were meant to exist at Moniker, and for this there is no excuse and belies a flaw in the decission making abilities of the individual. CP has lost his position at Moniker because of his actions - although it would appear somewhat belatedly. So is RS wrong to expose this matter? Of course not. But what is more is that RS seems to have supplied the information to Moniker/Oversee and was informed that CP would be terminated because of his actions - and then nothing of the like seems to have occurred.

With regard to the flowers.mobi transactions - this may or may not be something that has a hidden 'story' - I do not know, but just to bring this up does not excuse the actions of CP and/or Moniker/Oversee in this matter, nor does it retract in anyway the authenticity or importance of the information made public by RS.

These are my considered thoughts on this matter without prejudice of likes and dislikes influencing my opinion.

If CP got fired for that sole occurrence of improper use of this function @ Moniker I would say he paid a dear price anyway. Then I find it hard to claim that Oversee doesn't give a shit about such incidents.
Of course, I'd like to know why the offending domain was registered in the first place.

Honestly, imagine the countless sucks name out there. Like RyanAirSucks.com.

Time and time again, courts and decisions have been handed down IN FAVOR OF the domain holder as an right to express their displeasure to a brand.

The bottom line is you are looking at someone who had access (just like Halverez) and used that access for their own personal gain (just like Halverez).

He wants people to focus on the statement of it was pointed to a porn site and his wife was upset. Only later, far down his diatribe, does he admit it was a parked page and the porn links appeared due to keyword sucks.

Seems the overwhelming majority of readers and those posting on his blog overlook this, precisely to his advantage.

So, take a look at my siggy picture and parked page for DickCheney dot net. More than likely you will see some porn links to Penis Enlargement, etc. Now, what one word of that domain do you think would prompt such links to appear?

Someone has had my name+sucks.com for a decade. BFD. I don't know where it goes and I could care less. Didn't
even look up whois to see if anyone had it 'til this whining cook routine started.

Promoting yourself as an expect in this industry, despite your newbie status, should require you to grow some nuggies, patsy. YOU, not your wife who's continually posting under fake names and sending out nasty emails.

We ALL make mistakes. But you show no remorse, regret, or interest in apologizing for yours.

To me, that means you'll continue to lie, cheat, and steal information and use it for personal gain if given the chance.

Nearly every company I have ever worked for had policies regarding the use of company property and using that property for personal business.

Believe it or not, this included using telephones to make personal phone calls, using computers to "surf" the web while on the clock, and basically using company time (while on the clock) to conduct personal business was, in essence, stealing from the company in terms of being on the clock but not working to the benefit of the company.

Frankly, he should be damn glad he did it in an industry and with a company that does not give a shit about anyone else but themselves (insert Oversee).

In my business, a breach of confidential information and violation of privacy results from those involved to be terminated and the company to notify the person who's information has been breached. Not only is this policy, it is the LAW! Serious breaches involving over 500 records being breached not only notifying those who's records have been breached but also notifying the community via press releases and notices to local media (ie, TV and Newspapers). Again, this is not only policy, IT IS THE LAW!

CP should get on his knees and thank God that he did this act while employeed with a company that does not even take its own criminals seriously (add Halverez) and will not comment due to embarrassment. Nor do they prosecute their own employees (insert Halverez) for embezzlement, fraud, wire fraud, price fixing and so on. Again, they do not want the embarrassment.

So welcome to domaining, who's creedo is F*CK everyone else and every man in it for himself.

An employee looks at something he shouldn't have --and he gets fired for it. It seems like a costly mistake for the employee. And it seems like the company took decisive action.

Now, how does that make the employer some kind of evil organization which is unworthy of trust?

It is only a big deal if your name is Prick Schwartz and among your vast library of grudges is a grudge against the company, which, by the way, is also your competitor in the business of domain trade shows.

What a coincidence!

It is all a tempest in a tea pot.

I still have all of my domains at Moniker and I am very happy there.

He deserves it :)
I have a lot more respect for CP as he never killed anybody.

In my business, a breach of confidential information and violation of privacy results from those involved to be terminated and the company to notify the person who's information has been breached.
Isn't it more or less what happened ?
No doubt CP did something wrong but he botched his career and jeopardized his future as a result. In my view justice has been meted out already. Do we really need more bleeding at this point :)

Obviously it is a big deal to many, many more people based on all the blogs that picked it up and the sides being taken.

Would anyone ever have known about this if someone else did not disclose it? Would Oversee have admitted a system breach? No. Would CP have eventually blogged about manipulation of privacy for his personal use? No.

That is what I do not understand...blaming someone else for ratting someone else out and then down playing the whole spat and act as if it was jealousy.

---------- Post added at 02:51 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:45 PM ----------

Yes, three months after what happened and only when someone else made it an issue.

Otherwise, this would have been a non-issue such as Halverez doing his business even though members here raised suspicions and inquiries to Moniker/Oversee as much as two years before that story unfolded.

I can not get over all the people who are taking sides blaming Rick for disclosing this as an act of jealousy or because of competition.

I guess all the other DNF members who reported Halverez were just jealous because they did not get the name...never thinking for a moment that someone on the inside had access to all this information, max bids, etc. Nope, just a bunch of jealous whiney domainers.

Point is, too much attention is being taken away from the act (what I consider to be a very serious act) and deflected attention to matters that have nothing to do with the act - violation of privacy for personal gain.
