every year a idiot pops out who claims he makes serious cash with domaining. First there was Focus then there was another one and another one and so on.. Guys please stop it... I have to bring you to the real world every year.. its annoying.

Go now to kitchen your mommy will fix you a hot meal and then its time for school. maybe you will get some lunch money too

I think, it is a good thing if domainers share once in a while their accomplishments. Even though, be it once a year. It is almost end 2008 and we need to size up our business and look to 2009 and plan how we can do things differently.

So, when someone shares their income, it is not to boast but enlighten. I am always motivated by someones success. The more money someone makes, we as domainers should celebrate, as it shows that our industry is indeed growing and going in the right direction.

Those who got in the game early will have an easier time showing off their successes as opposed to those who started in the last 2-4 years. This is why Carter's post makes sense. He shows that you can be successful even if you start today.

$170k may not be a huge amount in the realm of a tiny minority of domainers viewpoint and they are in the extreme tiny minority. I can confidently say, a huge and a disproportionate number of domainers can barely make sense of it all by even trying to stay in the game, let alone profit from it.

I made a little over $120k in the last 12 months and blew much of it in the stock market. So, a lesson to be learned there. But, I will bounce back real quick.

I congratulate Carter and I wish for all of us in the forum to do better and be inspired by his success.

And then you'll have to kill him...
That does explain why accountants hang up on me when I call.

This is exactly the reason because I've open this thread: share experiences.
I see nothing wrong with this thread. Simply put - if people want to pony up, that's fine.

Personally, I do not want to seem boastful or in some eyes a failure. I want to be part of a community sharing experiences and learning still.

That is why I do not have my own blog site - yet.

I am getting offers nearly every day.

Most importantly, I am concentrating on development skills. Yes, I could hire someone to do this for me. But if I learn it myself, the power to change, amend, alter, and monitize is in my total control.

I have achieved some short-term success by being contacted by merchants to buy space. I have yet to establish prices of such.

In all seriousness, I have not tallied up any totals. And naturally it is never as much as we would hope it to be or too much that we want to claim for tax purposes.

Actually Carter 170K USD in this business its a fairly small amount. The one that are laughing are the one that are not writing.

This reminds me of the true story of the guy that was in a Las Vegas casino, boasting all night about how much he was worth....The late Kerry Packer (an Australian billionaire) was at the same table, and got increasingly irritated by this arrogant idiot...

Finally, Kerry said to him: 'How much are you worth?'

The American replied: '$1.5 billion'

Kerry said: 'Toss you a coin for it'.

True story....Don't be arrogant about being rich - there's always someone richer.

I don't think $170k is a small amount to earn in a year from domains. I don't believe 95% of domainers on this - or any other - domain forum think that $170k is a small amount, either....I say that's a good effort....I say full creds to Carter, if he's made that from his domains this year.

And, I don't think Carter (or anyone else) deserves sneering shots, and arrogant 'put-him-in-his-place' comments about his stated level of earnings, from those that may - or may not - be earning very much more.

If someone's earning mid $xxx,xxx - $x,xxx,xxx from domains, I think that's fantastic....And, if someone's earning $170k, I think that's great, too....And, if someone's just hanging in there, that's okay, too...All equally worthy, imo....All domainers - and, having a go.

Whether someone's wise to state their earnings publicly is a matter for each individual.

...But, I doubt you'd ever hear Rupert Murdoch sneering at someone whose income was 'only' $5 million per year...

BRK-A is trading at $131,000.00 per share.

Imagine a dinner party where people are talking about how many shares they own.

Good thread.

How much did I make from domains this year? Not nearly as much as I will make next year.

Thank you "stuff" my forever loyal underachiever board troll...you are right, I make just about minimum wage if I am lucky. (per minute lol) You know I feel so warm & fuzzy when little girls start using my name as a reference point all the time in conversations about money & success as it let's me know I'm always on your feeble little mind and if you really knew anything about anything it would most likely blow your mind. Suffice to say the check I cut last year for taxes most likely was more than you made last year stuffy. :eek:k:

Thank you, please drive through.

Well...I will say that this has been my best year, income wise, from domains. I do not see it slowing down next year either :)
